Villa Wolf Riesling Dry
This shows a stony purity that is characteristic of Riesling from the Pfalz in Southern Germany. It has excellent richness and solid structure making this a full and surprisingly powerful wine which shows good length and a crisp, very dry finish. Perfect with food, but also a great aperitif.
Producer Profile
In 1996, Ernst Loosen took over the J.L. Wolf winery in the Pfalz region, which has been rich in tradition since 1756. Villa Wolf is a country villa in the Italian style, unique in its design, which was completed in 1843 according to plans by the Karlsruhe architect Friedrich Eisenlohr.
For Ernst Loosen, the takeover of J.L. Wolf (now Villa Wolf) was a déjà vu experience. Just as with the Dr. Loosen Winery, the opportunity arose to breathe new life into a winery with a good stock of vines in prime locations. The location of both wineries is also special: Dr. Loosen is located in Bernkastel on the Middle Mosel, where the concentration of prime vineyard sites is highest. Villa Wolf in Wachenheim is located on the Mittelhaardt with a special microclimate (similar to that of Alsace).
