Espiritu Indomito Godello
Grown at around 950 metres above sea level, these high-altitude vineyards are a setting where winemaker Mauricio Lorca feels particularly at home. The significant difference between day and night temperatures, combined with a long, extended ripening period, helps build concentration and complexity in the grapes while preserving freshness.
Although Godello is more traditionally associated with Valdeorras and Bierzo in north-western Castilla y León, the variety is increasingly thriving in these elevated sites. This is a particularly elegant expression, with an enticing nose of stony minerality, delicate quince and citrus peel.
Rather than the richer, waxier and more oaked styles that can sometimes resemble Viognier, this is a beautifully restrained and precise Godello. Bright natural acidity frames the subtle fruit, creating a dry white that is wonderfully linear, fresh and effortlessly elegant.
