Monte Antico Toscana
The Monte Antico brand was created by Neil and Maria Empson, who launched this expressive Tuscan red five years after establishing Neil Empson Selections. Inspired by their passion for Tuscany, they set out to craft their own wine that captured the character and potential of the region.
Working alongside renowned winemaker Franco Bernabei, they developed a blend centred around Sangiovese, Tuscany’s signature grape variety, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to add richness, structure and complexity.
The grapes are sourced from around 200 hectares of vineyards across Maremma, Colline Pisane, Colli Fiorentini and selected areas of Chianti. The diverse vineyard sites feature a range of soils, from fine-textured limestone at higher elevations to clay-rich calcareous soils, rocky galestro (marl) and clay-siliceous terrains, each contributing to the wine’s depth, balance and distinctive Tuscan character.
