Roger Sabon Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Prestige

The Sabon family is an ancient and well-regarded name in Châteauneuf-du-Pape first mentioned in documents dating to 1540.  Famed wine critic Robert Parker says of Sabon, “The style here is a brilliant combination of the best traditional techniques married to a handful of modern nuances.” The ‘Prestige’ is their top selection within this fabled village, and as such is one of the very best examples of this wine available. The age of the grenache and syrah vines – the oldest topping 100 years old – will provide plenty of richness and concentration, but grapes are picked quite early to preserve natural acidity. As a result this wine walks the line between fresh red fruit, and dense black fruit flavours with rich additional complexity coming from a blend that also includes Mourvedre, Cinsault, Counoise, Vaccarèse, Muscardin and Terret Noir
