Raats Old Vine Chenin Blanc

After making wine around the world and honing his craft in the Cape, Bruwer Raats established Raats Family Wines in 2000, based on a policy of ‘excellence through specialisation’, focusing on two unfashionable grapes varieties at the time, Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Textured and fresh, with restrained tropical notes. The label doesn’t quite match the vibe, but the wine itself delivers. There’s a well-balanced interplay of fruit and oak, nicely integrated. It should develop for a few years in bottle, yet it’s already drinking well now.
