Podere Scopetone Brunello di Montalcino 2010
Podere Scopetone is one of Montalcino’s best-kept secrets. The estate occupies the historic Scarnacuoia cru, where Ferruccio Biondi—widely regarded as the pioneer of Brunello di Montalcino—first planted Sangiovese long before the now-famous Tenuta Greppo became synonymous with the appellation. Replanted in 1978, these exceptional vineyards sit on some of the region’s oldest soils, exposed by the steep, rugged slopes that define this remarkable site.
Since acquiring the estate in 2009, Loredana Tanganelli and Antonio Brandi have carefully restored its reputation, producing wines that reflect the purity, elegance and history of this extraordinary terroir. With just 2.5 hectares under vine, production is extremely limited. The vineyards are farmed according to organic principles, allowing the character of this historic cru to shine through in every bottle, even though the wines are not officially certified organic.
