Kirsten and Richard bought the Matawhero winery from it?s founder and pioneer winemaker Denis Irwin in 2008. The Estate produces 3 levels of wine: The Single Vineyard range ? a selection of the very best vineyard sites in Gisborne from three distinct sub regions; Riverpoint, Hexton Hills and Patutahi. The wines are fruit-driven and approachable and they display the palate weight and texture that Gisbourne is renowned for.
