Bon Courage Gewurztraminer
Quite simply, this is a well-made, textbook example of Gewürztraminer. The nose is gently floral without being overpowering, and the palate is soft and rounded, showing classic notes of lychee, rose, and violet, all neatly balanced by a touch of citrus acidity. After pressing, the juice remained on the skins for around four hours, helping to draw out its distinctive aromatic intensity. While South Africa may not be the first place that comes to mind for Gewürztraminer, this is a very convincing, well-executed expression.
