Located in the heart of Saint-Émilion, this 7-hectare estate sits alongside Château Ausone and shares the same owner and winemaker. The Vauthier family has owned the property since 1921, with annual production around 2,500 cases.
The 2016 vintage is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in colour, it initially shows a touch of restraint, gradually revealing aromas of baked cherry, mulberry and fresh plum, complemented by hints of cedar, pencil shavings and bay leaf. Medium-bodied and youthful, the oak is still slightly prominent, adding a chewy texture and structure, while vibrant, concentrated fruit provides plenty of energy and intensity. The finish is lifted by bright red-fruit notes, suggesting excellent potential for further development. Drink 2020–2034.
