Duas Quintas Douro Tinto
The fruit for this comes from two estates (Hence ‘Duas Quintas’), one being cooler climate and providing freshness, aromas and elegance to this wine, the other giving richness, body, deep fruit character and power. The result is a beautifully balanced wine which is one of our top sellers.
Producer Profile
Ramos Pinto were the original pioneers of quality winemaking in the Douro, a legacy that lives on today and has been adopted throughout the region.
João Nicolau de Almeida was the enologist responsible for conducting the research that eventually designated five official native varietals recommended for the Douro region: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesca, Tinta-Barroca, Tinto-Cao and Tinta-Roriz (Tempranillo). He also revolutionised plantings through the Douro, introducing vertical plantings. This pioneering spirit is continued by the next generation of the family, Jorge Rosas, alongside winemaker Joao Luis Baptista.
