Les Caleches de Lanessan
Planted on deep Garonne gravel beds twenty years ago, the thirteen hectares of vineyards that produce this wine lie between those of two Cru Classé Saint-Julien estates: Château Beychevelle (4ème cru) and Château Gruaud Larose (2ème cru). When the grapes reach optimum ripeness they mechanically harvested (for speed) and meticulously sorted, before fermentation in temperature controlled, coated concrete tanks. Winemaker Paz Espejo then employs traditional techniques – pumping over, rack and return – according to the needs of the vintage and of the fruit to make Les Calèches, Château Lanessan’s second wine.
