Domaine du Vieux Pressoir Saumur Rouge
This Cabernet Franc is from vines 6-25 years old on ancient soils. No oak, just fermentation in concrete, giving a full, fleshy, broad range of flavours without imparting any oak flavour. You get lovely ripe red berry fruits and spice, and fine-grained tannins.
Producer Profile
Domaine du Vieux Pressoir dates back to 1892 and was a key player in the creation of the Saumur appellation in the 1930s as well as more recently the smaller appellation of Saumur Puy- Notre-Dame in 2009, which itself has been a winegrowing village since the thirteenth century. Claude Vagnon bought the estate in 2015, with its twenty-six hectares of Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. Frédéric Etienne is winemaker, achieving effortless balance and purity across the range.
