Ramos Pinto 10 Year Old Tawny Port
Selected from one of the four farms that make up the Ramos Pinto estate and aged for ten years in large casks, this is a superbly mellow port. Bright, attractive amber colour. Strawberry and hazelnut scents with smooth caramel and praline flavours. Balanced, complete and persistent. “Caramelised demerara sugar aromas lead to nicely defined, rich, spicy flavours of dried fruit and caramel, with a little Douro bake and spirit on the lengthy finish. 91/100, Highly Recommended”, Decanter magazine, January 2018,
Producer Profile
Ramos Pinto were the original pioneers of quality winemaking in the Douro, a legacy that lives on today and has been adopted throughout the region.
João Nicolau de Almeida was the enologist responsible for conducting the research that eventually designated five official native varietals recommended for the Douro region: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesca, Tinta-Barroca, Tinto-Cao and Tinta-Roriz (Tempranillo). He also revolutionised plantings through the Douro, introducing vertical plantings. This pioneering spirit is continued by the next generation of the family, Jorge Rosas, alongside winemaker Joao Luis Baptista.
