Chateau Lafont Menaut Blanc
‘Dense and fruity with layers of fruit, sliced lemons and an apple and mineral undertone. Lovely density.’ James Suckling.
This wine is aged in oak barrels, which gives them finesse and complexity. The white wine is fresh and fruity. Although enjoyable young, the Sémillon grapes and barrel ageing mean that it can also improve in bottle.
Producer Profile
The name of Château Lafont Menaut comes from the place called “La Fontaine de Menaut” whose lands belonged in the eighteenth century to Baron de Montesquieu, writer and winemaker. For 20 years, Philibert Perrin, owner of the Château, has been producing 100% Sauvignon white wines, lively and very fruity, aged in barrels giving them an ability to age, as well as red wines, which develop on the palate beautiful notes of black fruit as well as the typical smoky side of Pessac – Léognan wines, on a superb terroir of Graves.
