New Everyday Favourites!

One of the consequences of lockdown for us at Quaff was that we were largely unable to try new wines. We couldn’t go to trade tastings, and our suppliers were either furloughed or unable to travel. And no, Brexit didn’t help either. This has meant that, while we’ve been able to stay open, we haven’t been able to play with and refresh our wine selection nearly as much as we would have liked.

However with the gradual easing recently, that’s all changed. Thus we have now picked about 40 brand new wines that we are keen to show off! This half dozen represents a selection of new everyday numbers that have arrived, with one exception, in the last 48 hours.

The exception is the Mont d’Hortes Rose, which is the current tipple of choice round our way. One bottle leads into another with monotonous regularity. Among the others you have a stunningly zesty Vermentino from Sicily, a couple of super- soft, fruit-driven reds made respectively from Shiraz and Pinot Noir, and an elegantly oaked chardonnay from Southern France. Believe it, Chard is back at last, and about time. Rounding out the case is a lovely easy-going merlot, again from Southern France.
