Edi Simcic Rebula
Fantastically ripened grapes result in the relatively intense aroma for Simcic`s Rebula. Offering dried apples, lemon and lime, with a nice balsamic and honeyed touch. Aged in large barriques, the oak is subtle and provides a little smokiness as well as ageability. Dry and fresh on the palate, with notes of white blossom rather than fruit, and richly textured. Great tension and a little saline, makes this a wonderful match for sushi.
Producer Profile
In the sixties, seventies and eighties of the past century, Marica and Edi Simčič cultivate 3.5 hectares of vineyards, alongside their work in the then Dobrovo Agricultural Cooperative. In 1989 we bottle our first wine, a series of 3,000 bottles. When Marica and Edi retire, son Alex completes his studies and takes the reins in the nineties, setting a clear vision and the foundations of the house brand. From the initial cellar of the residential building, step by step following growing and changing needs, our wine cellar gradually becomes the modern facility of today. Now, the vibrant family story already involves the third generation, Alex’s sons Jure and Jakob.
