Deconstructed Bordeaux Tasting – 11th November

Quaff Hove, Thursday 11th November.

7.30PM, £32.50 a ticket.

This promises to be a fascinating tasting; great idea, Harriet!

Bordeaux plays host to some the World’s grandest, most expensive wines, both red and white. For both colours, though, the greatness of the wines often comes not from the use of a single grape variety, but from the combinations (or blends) used; the wines are greater than the sum of their parts. Thus these blends – Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, or Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, in the main – have become iconic, and globally copied, in their own right.

For this tasting we look at these wines and varieties, not only from Bordeaux but also from further afield, to see how they taste, both blended and unblended, in different environments. In doing so we hope to show what makes the ‘Bordeaux Blend’ so special and unique, both in its homeland and in the wider wine world.
